NOKIA OFFICIALLY CONFIRMS IT WOULD BE RETURNING TO THE MOBILE DEVICE MARKET

Ever since the terms of the agreement of the sale of the mobile devices and services unit of the Nokia Corporation to Microsoft there has been some speculation that Nokia might be returning to mobile devices market.

According to a press release from yesterday, Nokia confirmed that it would be returning to mobile device market. However unlike the Nokia of the past, the present day Nokia would not be manufacturing any of the new devices itself, rather it would be relying on third parties to do that for it. Having third parties manufacture your devices isn't new in the mobile industry, Apple has a similar deal with Foxconn for the manufacture of the iPhones and iPads we have all come to love. However unlike Apple, Nokia would be leaving the sales, marketing and after sales care to its partner which complicates things a bit more.

While I would love to see Nokia return to making phones and other mobile devices, however this isn't the Nokia of old any more. And I am a bit sceptical about how this new arrangement would work out for would be customers. Let's hope they are able to iron out any creases before the new devices become available for purchase in a year's time.

SAMSUNG UNVEILS THE GALAXY A8 THINNEST GALAXY SMARTPHONE YET

Samsung has finally unveiled the much rumoured Galaxy A8 smartphone. The Galaxy A8 joins the A5 and A7 in its midrange A-series offerings.
The A8 sports a 5.7 inch 1080p HD display which puts it in the phablet territory with the Note series. The A8 carries on with Samsung new design language eschewing plastic for Aluminium for the frame and also the back.

The A8 is powered by a 64 bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor clocked at 1.0GHz and 1.5GHz, 2GB RAM. The A8 is available in 16GB or 32GB versions which can be expanded via a microSD card. The A8 has a 16MP back camera with optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) and a 5MP front camera. The Galaxy A8 comes with a fingerprint sensor and the regular connectivity options such as LTE, WIFI, GPS, Glonass and Beidou, and dual SIM option (using the second SIM would mean sacrificing the microSD as they share the same slot). All these is powered by a 3050mAH battery which is a bit shy of the 3200mAH found in the Note series.
The key selling point of the Galaxy A8 which is its relatively small profile with a thickness of 5.9mm. The Galaxy A8 would be available in three colour options; black, white and gold.

SAMSUNG GALAXY S6 EDGE SCREEN SCRATCHES

Users of the new Samsung Galaxy S6 edge have been reporting incidences of their phone's screen being scratched by the Clear view accessory. Although the incidence have been limited, if you are considering buying the Clear view case for your Galaxy S6, you should probably hold up until the cause of the scratches has been confirmed.

ROOT YOUR SAMSUNG GALAXY S6 AND S6 EDGE WITHOUT TRIPPINĢ KNOX

Now Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge have an easy and convenient way of rooting their devices, unlike most common methods of gaining root on Samsung devices that require a PC running Odin. Ping Pong only requires installing an APK just like towelroot or famaroot. One of the advantages of using this app is that it doesn't trip the KNOX counter, potentially allowing users to still have access to Samsung Pay and My KNOX.
If you are interested in gaining root access, head over to this XDA post to download the APK.

ANDROID AND IOS APPS COMING TO WINDOWS 10 PHONES, TABLETS AND COMPUTERS

Yeah, you read that right, Microsoft is bringing Android and iOS apps compatibility to Windows 10 devices. But you might wanna hold off on trying to sideload Android APKs or iOS IPA files into your Windows Phones or Tablet just yet.
Microsoft would be including an Android subsystem in Windows 10, which would able you run Android apps without any modifications besides those that uses Google APIs (which is simialr to how Amazon App store apps works). On the iOS side of it, developers would now be able to use the Objective C codes to build Windows 10 apps.

Now i guess Microsoft would now be able to scratch off a lack of apps as one of the things hindering the adoption of the Windows on mobile devices.

NEW OPERA UPDATE BRINGS BETTER JAVASCRIPT HANDLING

Opera line of browsers has been my favourite mobile browser for quite some time mainly due to its data compression capability. However the data savings comes at a price, a loss of certain features such as javascript rendering. But all that is all in the past, with the version 29 the Off-road data compression mode has been replaced by the Opera Turbo. The Opera Turbo mode now handles javascript rendering properly. The Opera Turbo mode is just as speedy as the Off-Road mode however it consumes a little bit more data.
The new update now allows Opera users to synchronise their browsing sessions with the tab synchronisation feature.
The new update makes the Opera Browser for Android devices a very capable device, all that is left is the restoration of the old  Opera link.
